Over the Hills and Far Away
Good evening. I said good evening. Last weekend we did a couple of warm up gigs for these three, this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We believe that these ah, were the first three gigs to be sold out, yeah? So these must be the ones, these must be the ones with the most energy stored up, right? You've been waiting, so we intend to tell you a little story about what's been going on since we were babies, and the story starts as we look Over the Hills and Far Away.

In My Time of Dying
So ah, in this six or seven years that we've managed to tread the same path together, we've written an assortment of material. We've tried to give as much variety out of our craniums as we could so as to stimulate ourselves. If you keep repeating the same thing time and time again it's just not using your right hand off and it becomes a bit boring. So what we've tried to do over these years is to vary, as I said, as much as we can. Tonight we intend perhaps for you to come with us through some of the variations that we've come across. This is ah, this is an Earth tune. what's that noise? We can play with noises. This is a thing that's probably older than the hills. It came from the negro work chant. It's called In My Time of Dying.

The Song Remains the Same
Thank you for very good health, and keep your fingers crossed for mine. It seems to be quite a vibe ah, yes indeed, indeed. A lot of strange things happened to us in our time that give us the ah, insight or outsight to our different influences on music, but wherever you do, in the end, you find that the people that you meet rather good guys or bad guys, you attach you self to the good ones. That's why we're all still together and some of the bad ones you let go, but in the end, the moral is The Song Remains the Same.

Kashmir
Thank you. John Paul Jones is responsible for the orchestral parts. John Paul Jones orchestra. ah My left arm is swollen beyond all proportion because I just had it chipped for cholera, and small pox, and everything else that we might catch while we go hunting in the jungle for new words and new songs for a new album. On one of the last ah, so you might wonder how I can ever lift it this far with such a pain. So the last time we had a chip in the arm and awander in the jungle nobody really went anywhere at all. We wrote a song called Kashmir.

No Quarter
This next piece also features John Paul Jones on keyboards. These days John is working a lot on keyboards. This features Jonesy, the maestro. It's called No quarter. That;s Jonesy the maestro. Now we feature John Paul Jones on piano, who's bicycle clip is caught in his sock.

Tangerine
John Paul Jones grand piano. John Paul Jones piano. Apart from the sinister connotations of all these sort of ah, journeys where you're thinking, hang on a tic. So apart from these journeys that um, all these um, visions that you keep having um, and having some purpose, apart from plodding along, there are also songs that you write, excuse me, there are also songs that you write about love, and about the effect of love upon you, apart from squeezing lemons and other such, other such vicious martial arts. They're are in fact beautiful songs of love. There are in fact beautiful love affairs in our lives. That is a beautiful cup of tea. So here's a song of simple love, first love. It's called Tangerine.

Going to California
Four part harmony featuring John Bonham, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Reginald Pither. That's why Bonzo jumped up so quick. You see, he was singing. He wanted you to get, pay attention to that. Now, apart from the, having the arm scratched to go with pith helmets into the darkest jungle, other travels took us along the A5 past Wellington, not California, oh no, not California yet.In fact, he might have been right. Is my manager shouting at me? This gentlemen here who's altering the mic stand was arrested for swearing at passers by at a tube station six months ago, Mick Hinton. He was then arrested three months later for driving over a traffic island. Really gets so bad because it costs Bonzo a fortune. He's now limping because Bonzo just gave him a dead leg. So we went to Wales. We didn't take the A5. Wales is a good country. In fact, Wales is a country.

Going to California
Lot's of nice songs came from there in a very mellow acoustic vain. Strangely enough songs about California. This is dedicated to whom it may ultimately concern.

That's the Way
So maybe we didn't need the pith helmets. I'm now trying to think about the best way to approach telling you about the next song. Wherever you are Roy Harper, and I know you're hear again. Roy's one of our greatest friends, and Roy comes to see us every night. Roy, please buy some tickets next time. This is a song that um, requires some tuning so I'll shut up a bit. Didn't want to keep you. So this is one my mom said shouldn't really be going down at all. In fact, it's what's going down non stop cause That's the Way, That's the Way.

Thank you. Well hello. Good evening and welcome to the program. Tonight we bring you John Paul Jones um, if there are any bass players here tonight Paul um, this remarkable bass. When he used to be with Jet Hearns and Tony Meehan they were all the fashion. ah This is a song which translated from the orignial English Celtic Bron-Yr-Aur, which is true British for the golden breast. That's very true. This has references to a blue eyed friend that we all have.

I think this evening is ah, beginning to feel ah, silly. The lemon tea is no mingling very nicely with the electrical points down by John Paul Jones's keyboards. That's looking very good there John. I can see it's just about to blow you right out of this world. I thought I'd tell you because you always have been a good bloke, even when you played with Jet HArris and Tony MEehan, you were a good lad. I think this is a song which um, ah, was written not too long ago when we had that sort of ah, period of ah, sort of rest you might call it, when we managed to get an album together and try and start the beginnings of a record label. Remember that Roy? And um, and this is one of the songs that was written at the time. It's called Trampled Underfoot.

Moby Dick
Thank you. ah The man who was arrested at Isling Road Two station, could you come and adjust this? In fact, the lady in the front row could you come and adjust this? Seriously now, you couldn't have been arrested, your American. I know one of them dual personalities, I hear ya. Right, now a very serious part of the program. ah Quite an emotional part. A man I've known most of my life. A friend. A truely great precussionist. A man with a big heart. John Bonham, Moby Dick.

Dazed and Confused
John Henry Bonham. Moby Dick. Moby Dick. Moby Dick. One of the men from teh midlands, straight from a week at Barbarellas. We're getting too loose, hang on. Oh, exhausting. Well done John. You still have the job. HEre's a song um, that ah, long time ago when we were all on wages, never, we all got together in a tiny room. You know the story very well. We all fell in love at first sight, then decided to play our instruments. I lost out completely, and the first thing that we did play together back in the summer of 68, in the days of Scott McKenzie, was a thing that went, was a thing that, as they say, went something like this.

In this town the television suts off at two. What more can a lonely Rock and Roller do? ah So, despite Charles Schaar Murry we kept going. I believe there's a psychiatrist on his way Charles. Just hang on. Keep those teeth gritted, but here's one for you in you better moments Charles. Good old Charles.
